Koderma Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary covers an area of 150.62 square kilometres and borders the forests of Gaya district in Bihar. It was established in 1985. It com 26 prises hilly, dry deciduous forests. It is criss-crossed by several rivers and rivulets like Barakar, Sakri, Dhadhar and Telaiya. It is home to a number ofimportant tree species like Sal, Asan, Panjan, Kendu, Salai, Mahua, Piar, Sidha, Amla, Jamun, Bauhinia, Khair, Palas, Ber. Its fauna includes tiger, leopard, sloth, sambhar, cheetal, barking deer, nilgai, wild boar, giant squirrel, jackal, fox, hyena, langur, porcupine etc. and a variety of bird and reptile species. The reserved forest area is under the administrative control of Hazaribagh Wildlife Department.

The sanctuary is situated on Patna Ranchi Road (National Highway-31) and approximately in the middle of Patna and Ranchi. The nearest railway station is Koderma, which is 20 km away from the entrance of Koderma wildlife sanctuary.
